Written by: on Saturday, November 24th, 2012

Armand Dellovade took a screen pass from quarterback Andrew Koester, made one move and walked into the endzone to make the score 19-0 with 7:19 left in the third quarter.  That was West Alleghenys first pass of the night.  They didn’t need to throw the ball at all.  All totaled West Allegheny rushed for 383 yards in a resounding 34-7 win over West Mifflin.  West Allegheny got 121 yards from Chayse Dillon, 148 yards from Nick Halbedl, and 88 yards from Dellovade on a combined 42 carries out of the Wildcat formation.

Dillon drew first blood on a 5 yard carry, the point after failed and with 3:41 left in the first quarter the Indians had a 6-0 lead.  The Titans took the kick off and drove to midfield but their offense stalled.  West Allegheny the proceeded to drive chewing up 7 minutes. Dillon finished the drive with a 39 yard td run.  The point after gave the Indians a 13-0 lead.  Dillon had 104 yards on 9 carries in the first half.

In the second half 2 new stars emerged in the game.  Following hid td reception, Dellovade took the handoff after a West Mifflin botched punt and raced 34 yards to make the score 27-0 with 4:53 remaining in the third quarter.

“It’s just our linemen, really,” Dellovade said. “I got hot in the second half and (Dillon) got hot in the first half. We just kept it rolling.”

On the next drive Nick Halbedl dragged tacklers 35 yards into the end zone for a touchdown to give West Allegheny a34-0 lead. Halbedl said there was no way he’d be stopped.

“Not here,” he said. “I was thinking all day how great it would be to score a touchdown here of all places. Right around the five I felt a guy on my back and I thought there was no way he was bringing me down.

West Mifflin would score on a 13 yard run by James Wheeler with just minutes left in the game.

The Indians will face unbeaten Erie Cathedral Prep (12-0) in the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined. Cathedral Prep earned its berth with a 48-14 win against General McLane.
