Of all the potential offensive line Division-1 prospects in Pennsylvania, eight of them hail from the WPIAL.
One of those eight WPIAL prospects is Upper St. Clair senior-to-be Ian Park, and interest in the Panthers’ guard is starting to pick up.
According to national recruiting service Scout.com, Park has received a trio of verbal scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Maryland and Pitt, and has been shown interest from schools like Connecticut, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Penn State and Syracuse.
At one point in Park’s recruiting process, he had also been shown interest from schools like Boston College, Ohio State, West Virginia and Wisconsin, according to Scout and Rivals.com.
The 6’4, 290-pound Park was part of an Upper St. Clair offensive line that helped pave the way for a unit which averaged 216 rushing yards, 83 passing yards and 24 points per game. The Panthers’ offense yielded four rushers with at least 230 yards, including dual-threat QB Dakota Conwell, who threw for for 916 yards and ran for 1,085 more.
USC finished 8-3 overall in 2010 – the Panthers’ first 8-win season since 2006, when the black and red went a perfect 16-0 and claimed the PIAA AAAA championship. USC fell in the WPIAL AAAA quarterfinals to North Hills, 16-14.
