Despite improvement, The Golden Eagles are still winless
In football, every game has defining moments, times that determine the winners. Friday night, Tyrone wasn’t able to take advantage of those moments and that proved costly in their 26-14 loss to Huntingdon.
“Honestly, there was just a couple of plays that didn’t go our way and that determined the game,” said Kyle Plummer. “The score did not reflect the way we played.”
The Golden Eagles out gained the Bearcats 250-206 but could not finish drives. After being down 14-0 after the first, senior Kyle Plummer made his second interception in as many games to set up the Golden Eagles with good field position. Tyrone regained some momentum by scoring quickly on a 17-yard TD pass from Denver Light to Parker Mitchell. After making couple more athletic grabs look easy, Mitchell finished with 4 catches for 85 yards and a TD.

Tyrone lost any momentum they had gained at the end of the first half early in the third after a muffed punt and a late interception both led to Huntingdon scores, squandering any hope of a Tyrone comeback.
However, the Golden Eagles did not give up . The defense managed to force a Huntingdon fumble that was recovered by freshman Tommy Hicks. The fumble recovery led to a late 16-yard score by senior Brandon Loose.
Loose finished with 24 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
The 0-3 Tyrone Golden Eagles are set to host the 1-2 Mounties of Philipsburg-Osceola on Friday Night at Gray Veterans Memorial Field. Even though Tyrone has not lost to Philipsburg since 2004, this game should be a test for both struggling teams and, could potentially set the tone for the rest of the season.
“I think over [these] three weeks we’ve made big strides and are competing against some very tough teams,” said Tyrone Head Coach Jason Wilson. “We need to stay focused and block out the negativity and not let it affect us.”
