It might come as a surprise to some that there isn’t a really high-profile Division-1 prospect in the WPIAL this season.

But it should not come as a surprise that Washington Trinity High School has another linebacker that will go to a D-1 college.  It’s becoming tradition.

Ed Dalton has yet another Division-1 linebacker prospect – the school’s third in the last three years.  Kenny Wilkins already has five offers – Cincinnati, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh – and interest from six other schools, according to Rivals.com.

Season stats were not available for Wilkins – Trinity does not submit individual statistics to Maxpreps.com.

Two years ago, Trinity had a lot of pre-season hype surrounding it when linebackers Mike Yancich and Andrew Sweat lined up on defense.  The hype didn’t translate into a state championship, but Yancich and Sweat both inked D-1 letters of intent to Penn State and Ohio State, respectively.

Speaking of the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions, they’re showing interest in Wilkins, but have not offered.  Iowa and Florida State are also interested, but have not offered.

Trinity competes in the WPIAL’s Big Seven conference.  The Hillers’ only WPIAL football championship came in 1948, when it shared the title with Crafton.
