Team #3 Clairton (7)

Written by: on Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The Bears are the Bears are the Bears. Clairton has been on such a phenomenal and dominant run these last few years, winning three of the last four WPIAL Class A titles, playing in two straight PIAA championship games, positing 16 shutouts in their last 32 games and holding 28 of 32 opponents to eight points or less in that span, the Bears are the highest ranked Class A team in this poll. QB/DE Desimon Green (1,600 passing yards, 800 rushing yards, 20+ TD; 87 tackles, school-record 27 sacks) returns for his senior season and is one of the more sought-after defensive end prospects in the state of Pennsylvania for the 2011 class. OL/DLs Carvan Thompson, Keith Craven, Marquis Norris and TE Bishop Neal and WR Josh Page return to spearhead the offense. The Bears do lose such leaders as RB Deontae Howard (career 4,415 rushing yards), ATH Kevin Weatherspoon and defensive leader Eddie Ball, but the orange and black have enough pieces to make another championship run, both of the WPIAL and PIAA varieties, and have the potential to be the first school in state history with three consecutive 600-point season scoring outputs
