Written by: on Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

Deaysean Rippy, a four-star prospect at linebacker according to Scout.com, has racked up quite the impressive list of Division-1 scholarship offers.

Between Scout and Rivals.com, the 6’2, 200-pound Rippy is up to an impressive 29 verbal offers, as attention to the McKees Rocks prospect has grown considerably in his recruiting process.

Presently, Rippy holds offers from Akron, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Clemson, Connecticut, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, LSU, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pitt, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, Southern Cal, West Virginia and Wisconsin.  Surprisingly, Penn State, known for recruiting and producing many impressive linebackers throughout its program history, has not extended Rippy a scholarship offer.

Rippy was a two-way threat for Sto-Rox during their 7-3 campaign one season ago. Named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s West regional Fabulous 22 team, Rippy hauled in 22 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 23.1 yards per catch and more than 50 yards per game.

Defensively, Rippy was part of a Viking unit that notched five shutouts and held eight of 10 opponents to 14 points or less. He posted 70 tackles (35 solo) and eight sacks. In the last two years, Rippy has amassed more than 140 tackles and 15 sacks for Sto-Rox.

Rippy was a 1st-team Big 7 All-conference selection in 2010 and was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.

The Vikings’ season ended in the opening round of the WPIAL Class A playoffs to Pittsburgh North Catholic, 10-8.
