State College High School and University Park are separated by no more than three miles.
So when Alex Kenney moves on to play college football, the Little Lions’ top college football prospect won’t have very far to go.
Kenney verbally committed to Penn State Tuesday, according to articles on Rivals.com and the Centre Daily Times.
The 6’0, 194-pound Kenney is listed as a wide receiver on Rivals, but he could also be a threat to carry the ball, too. Kenney finished the 2008 season with 670 rushing yards, 240 receiving yards, and 509 kick and punt return yards. He scored 11 total touchdowns.
Kenney was brought up to the State High varsity football team as a 9th grader, which is a pretty rare feat. Kenney’s freshman year, the Little Lions lost in the Western Finals to Upper St. Clair, 28-20.
State College finished the 2008 season with a 12-1 overall record.
Including Penn State, Kenney had 16 total Division-1 offers, ranging from Pitt, NC State, Boston College, and Syracuse to Stanford, Kentucky, and Illinois.
