South Fayette quarterback Christian Brumbaugh helped direct the Lions to one of its best seasons in school history last year. Brumbaugh, among the key returners to the SF offense in 2010, is also generating some Division-1 interest.
Presently, Brumbaugh holds three scholarship offers – from Akron, Bowling Green and Buffalo – according to Scout.com. Brumbaugh is a 6’3, 195-pound athlete and one of six WPIAL quarterbacks that are potential Division-1 prospects in Pennsylvania’s 2011 recruiting class.
Brumbaugh led the Lions to a 10-1 record in 2009 and the school’s first-ever victory in the WPIAL “AA” playoffs – a 35-15 decision over Beaver Area. The SF field general completed 153-of-241 passes for 2,183 yards and 29 touchdowns against only eight interceptions. He averaged nearly 200 passing yards per game out of South Fayette’s total of over 360 yards of offense per contest.
In the last two seasons, Brumbaugh has thrown for more than 3,300 yards and more than 30 touchdowns. The Lions averaged 33.9 points per game during the 2009 season, topping that average in eight of their 11 games.
Aliquippa ended South Fayette’s season in the WPIAL “AA” quarterfinals, 47-34.
