The Jayhawks find themselves among the potential contenders for a WPIAL AA crown after coming oh-so-close against Aliquippa at Heinz Field in November and finishing 12-1 overall. Head coach Roy Hall, entering his fourth season, is 24-8 overall, and lost only eight seniors from the Jayhawks’ 2011 team. Granted, one of those seniors was Michigan State recruit Demetrious Cox, who amassed more than 2,000 yards of total offense rushing and passing, but Jeannette is by no means ailing on the offensive side of the ball.

A pair of starters on the offensive line – all-conference selection Logan Hoak and junior Matt Howard – return, as do the Jayhawks’ No. 2 and 3 rushers from a season ago, Jordan Edmunds and Shavonta Craft. Edmunds ran for more than 900 yards and Craft posted more than 700 to provide a nice core in the offensive backfield. Defensively, Jeannette returns Edmunds, who will be a key at linebacker, from a unit which allowed an average of 12.6 points per game. Kicker/punter Seth Miller also returns for the defending Interstate Conference champions.
