Small School Team # 1 Clairton (7) 0-0

Written by: on Friday, August 31st, 2012

Clairton undisputedly retains its No. 1 ranking following a second consecutive 16-0 season and claiming its third straight PIAA A championship. Headlined by standout two-way athlete Tyler Boyd (2,400 rush yds., 383 receiving yds, 48 total TD, 324 points scored) and joined by a supporting cast which includes WR/LB Terrish Webb (27 rec., 772 yds, 11 TD), WR/DB Titus Howard, a Pitt recruit, RB Karvonn Coles and contributors Devontae Harvey and Dyran Davenport, Clairton looks to flex its muscles and continue to add to its already impressive string of dominance.

The Bears enter the season just shy of 600 all-time victories in program history, and another WPIAL championship in November would serve as the school’s 10th overall crown and 60th consecutive victory. The Bears already own the longest winning streak in the nation, at 47 games and counting, and have averaged better than 42 points per game during the streak. Boyd, who is nearing 3,100 yards rushing in his career, has more than 20 scholarship offers, and Webb is also a potential Division-1 prospect. In short, Clairton is, once again, loaded.
