Slow start doesn’t slow down Tutino, 4 catches leads Rams to 44-0 win over Colts

Written by: on Tuesday, September 12th, 2017

Behind four touchdowns from receiver Aaron Tutino and a smothering defense, the Ligonier Valley Rams upped their record to 3-0 with a 44-0 win over the Northern Cambia Colts.

The first quarter was marred by a number of penalties against both teams before the Rams got on the board late in the first quarter with Tutino pulling in a 15 yard pass from Sam Sheeder.

The defense put the next two points up for Ligonier when Avery Arnone tackled Colts QB Mark Marino in the end zone for a safety to make it 9-0 for the hosts. Tutino would add two more scores with a 32 yard pass from Sheeder and a 25 catch from Jackson Daugherty on a halfback option pass. Ligonier would go into halftime with a 22-0 lead.

After the break, Sheeder added to the lead on a 14 yard run and Tutino pulled in his fourth TD reception to invoke the mercy rule late in the third quarter. Joey Dubics finished the scoring with a 2 yard run in the fourth quarter to set the 44-0 final.

The Rams defense held Northern Cambria to just total 31 yards of offense all on the ground. Joey Dubics led the Rams with 11 tackles including one one for a loss. Nathan Burns chipped in two tackles for a loss and two sacks.

Offensively Tutino led the receivers with 6 catches for 116 yards and 4 scores. Sam Sheeder was 9 for 15 passing for 122 yards and 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Dubics was the leading rusher for Ligonier with 9 carries for 64 yards and a score.

The Rams improved to 3-0 while the Colts dropped to 2-1. This Friday Ligonier travels to Penns Manor.
