Pittsburgh Central Catholic QB Perry Hills has pair of D-1 offers

Written by: on Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Interest is picking up in Pittsburgh Central Catholic senior-to-be Perry Hills, and the Vikings’ field general even has some offers coming his way.

The 6’3, 200-pound senior-to-be for Central Catholic has a pair of Division-1 offers from Mid-American Conference representatives Buffalo and Kent State and attracted interest, but no verbal offers, from nine other Division-1 programs according to national recruiting services Scout.com and Rivals.com.  Interested parties include Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Minnesota, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue and Toledo.

Hills’ ability to stretch defenses as a legitimate passing threat has given the Vikings an added dimension to its offense the program has not enjoyed since the days of Tino Sunseri (2005-’07, 3,500 career passing yards).

He assumed the reins of Central Catholic’s pro-I offense halfway through the 2009 season with the Vikings stuck with a 3-2 overall record. He registered a five-game winning streak, leading the Vikings to the WPIAL AAAA quarterfinals opposite Woodland Hills, connecting on 33-of-63 passes (52.3 percent) for 510 yards and six touchdowns.  Hills was even better as a junior, throwing for 1,582 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing 83-of-154 passes (53.8 percent), leading PCC to an 11-1 overall record and berth in the WPIAL AAAA semifinals.

For his career, Hills has thrown for 2,092 yards and 16 touchdowns, completing 53.4 percent of his passes (116-of-217).  Depending on the length of Central Catholic’s season, Hills has an outside chance at reaching the 4,000-yard passing mark for his career, which would make him the second 4,000-yard passer in program history (Bob Tudi threw for 4,885 yards from 1999-2001).

Hills owns a career varsity starting record of 16-2 (.889), including a record of 3-2 (.600) in the playoffs.  With his hands firmly on the reins of the Vikings’ offense over the team’s last 18 games, Central Catholic has averaged 29.9 points per game.
