Pittsburgh Central Catholic OT Logan Dietz has his first two Division-1 offers in hand.
Dietz, a 6’7, 270-pound offensive tackle for the Vikings, currently holds a pair of verbal scholarship offers from Bowling Green and Toledo and has received interest, but no offers, from a combination of eight Division-1 FBS and FCS programs, according to national recruiting service Scout.com. Interested parties include Duke, Harvard, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Pitt, Richmond and Northwestern.
Scout.com rates Dietz as a two-star prospect, and the Central Catholic senior-to-be is one of four returning starters on the Viking line, joining fellow seniors-to-be Scott Haraczy, Jack Walther and tight end Pat Kelly.
Named as a 1st-team selection to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s All-Big East Conference team, Dietz was one of 10 Vikings selected to the team, included among six selections on the offensive side of the ball and was one of five Central Catholic juniors named to the team.
Dietz helped to pave the way for a Central Catholic offensive unit that averaged 30.1 points per game, reaching or surpassing the 30-point plateau seven times in 12 games. Dietz was part of a Viking offensive line that helped pave the way for an offensive arsenal which produced two backs with 775+ rushing yards and a 1,550+-yard passer.
Central Catholic finished 11-1 in 2010, the program’s first 10-win season since it claimed PIAA AAAA gold in 2007 with a perfect 16-0 record. 2010 marked the seventh time since the calendar flipped to the 2000s that Central Catholic has finished a season with 10 or more victories.
