Oil City Area TE Ben Koyack verbally commits to Notre Dame

Oil City Area’s blue-chip tight end prospect Ben Koyack, a 6’5, 230-pound senior-to-be, made a verbal commitment to Notre Dame Tuesday, according to his profile on Rivals.com.

Koyack’s verbal commitment is a solid verbal, according to Rivals.  Verbal commitments are non-binding until the player signs a letter of intent in February 2011.
In addition to Notre Dame, Koyack possessed offers from schools like Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, LSU, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Koyack played in seven games last season for Oil City, hauling in 43 passes for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.  He averaged 17.4 yards per catch as a junior, and had a nine-catch, 249-yard, two-touchdown performance to open the 2009 season against Meadville.
For his career, Koyack has registered 1,548 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.  He had 800 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Oil City finished the 2009 season with an 8-3 record and averaged over 28 points per game, falling in the District 10 “AA” quarterfinals to North East.
