Mt. League media day has familiar ring to it: stay healthy

Written by: on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018

Today at Bald Eagle Area High School there were Eagles, Golden Eagles, Mounties, Red Raiders, Bison, Rams, Bearcats and Huskies gathered all in one room. Not one animal, officer or pirate was injured at this gathering. That was the theme among many coaches, stay healthy in the grind of Mountain League play.

There are some teams with holes to fill, but don’t tell Bellefonte’s Shannon Manning, he’ll have no part of that. Nor will Coach Hudy about his Bearcats. Both say reload is more the word. The Huskies of Bishop Carroll have something to smile about, they return a bevy of young players AND they found a place to play after being ousted from their previous league.

P-O is still building, but Coach McGonigal believes they’ve turned the corner while the Rams believe they have an offensive weapon that could keep them at the top.

Tyrone returns a good core from last years team that they all felt was much better than they showed.

The Eagles of BEA are looking at a year that a lot of talent returns from a team that played very well. But it’s the Bison coached by Andrew Janocko who return the biggest crop of talent. Not included: Central could not make the trip.

What does all that mean? Nothing until the last snap of the last conference game of 2018, but it was fun to write.  Here’s what the teams had to say about their 2018 season outlook:

Bellefonte

Bishop Carroll
