One of the leaders of Montour’s talented offensive arsenal has chosen where he will continue his collegiate football career.

Julian Durden, a 5’8, 165-pound senior running back, issued an oral declaration to Kent State Saturday, according to national recruiting service

During his recruiting process, Durden fielded a half-dozen scholarship offers – in addtion to Kent State, he also held offers from Pitt, Buffalo, Ohio, Temple and Youngstown State.  He received interest, but no offers, from Cincinnati, Maryland, Northwestern, Penn State and West Virginia.

National recruiting service ranked Durden as the #74 running back in the entire 2012 class and rated him as a three-star prospect.  Rivals also extended the Spartan senior a three-star rating and ranked him as the 39th-best prospect in the state of Pennsylvania in the 2012 class.

Through eight games of his senior season, Durden has run for 1,075 yards and 16 touchdowns.  He has also scored three receiving touchdowns and added another score on special teams.  He has run for 4,553 yards in his career.  In a span from his sophomore season to the present, he has scored 56 rushing touchdowns.

Montour is 6-2 overall and more than likely will reach the WPIAL AAA playoffs as one of the four representatives from the Parkway Conference.
