Montour OL Austin Heter receiving D-1 attention
Written by: Josh Funk on Sunday, May 23rd, 2010The Montour Spartans have a potential Division-1 prospect in Pennsylvania’s 2011 recruiting class.
Andrew Heter, a 6’5, 255-pound offensive tackle for the McKees Rocks-based Spartans, has a scholarship offer from Maryland and has received interest from other Division-1 programs like Boston College, Indiana, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pitt and Syracuse, according to his profile on Rivals.com.
Heter helped pave the way for a Montour offense that produced a 1,000-yard rusher (Phil Pekich) and an 1,800-yard passer (Dillon Buechel). The Spartans averaged close to 320 yards of total offense and nearly 25 points per game.
The Spartans, just three years removed from a 12-1 season and berth in the WPIAL “AAA” championship game against Thomas Jefferson, finished 5-5 last season, falling to Franklin Regional in the opening round of the WPIAL playoffs, 35-21.
