Aliquippa quarterback Rasheem Jones has his first Division-1 offer, according to Rivals.com.

The Maryland Terrapins have offered Jones, a 6’3, 185-pound athlete.  Earlier this year, the Terps received a verbal commitment from Wilson Area’s Tyler Smith, a 2,900-yard passer.

Jones helped lead Aliquippa to the PIAA “AA” Western Finals, where the Quips fell in overtime, 29-28, to Wilmington Area.  Along the way, Aliquippa won its 13th WPIAL championship, stunning favored Beaver Falls, 8-6.

Through the first 12 weeks of 2008, Jones had completed 52-of-99 passes for 837 yards and six touchdowns.  Jones did not have to throw much because he had the benefit of Maurice Carter and Terry Patrick, a pair of 1,000-yard rushers, behind him last season.

Aliquippa finished 2008 with a 12-3 record, averaging just over 30.2 points per game.
