One of the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers’ leaders returning for the 2010 season is a potential Division-1 prospect.
Luke Rhodes, a 6’2, 200-pound running back and linebacker, has received interest, but no offers, from Michigan State, Penn State, Navy and Toledo, according to his profile on Rivals.com.
Rhodes made respectable contributions on both sides of the ball for the Golden Tigers last season. He ran for 676 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 5.45 yards per carry and nearly 62 yards per game, adding 13 catches for 122 yards (9.4 yds./rec.)
Defensively, Rhodes tallied 75 tackles (37 solo), one sack, three interceptions and four fumble recoveries. He averaged 6.8 tackles per game.
As a sophomore (2008 season), Rhodes contributed 673 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, adding 42 tackles (19 solo) and picking off a pass. Hollidaysburg finished 10-2 in 2008, winning the school’s eighth District 6 football championship in the process.
After a 4-3 start to its 2009 season, the Golden Tigers limped to an 0-4 finish and a 4-7 overall record. Hollidaysburg was eliminated in the District 6 “AAA” playoffs to Greater Johnstown, 21-14.
