Erie Cathedral Prep QB Damion Terry issues verbal declaration to Michigan State

Written by: on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

Erie Cathedral Prep’s Damion Terry will be continuing his football career in the Big Ten Conference.

Terry, a 6’4, 210-pound senior-to-be at quarterback for the Ramblers, issued a verbal declaration to Michigan State Tuesday, according to national recruiting services Scout.com and Rivals.com.

Terry had a handful of verbal scholarship offers on his plate before choosing the Spartans, including Pitt, Boston College, Duke, Illinois and Rutgers.  Programs like Georgia Tech, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others, showed interest but didn’t extend a scholarship offer to the Cathedral Prep field general.

Terry was not ranked at his position by either of the national recruiting services.

As a sophomore, Terry threw for a school single-season record 1,921 yards and 21 touchdowns, helping lead the Ramblers to a District 10 AAA championship and PIAA AAA semifinals berth.  He finished his junior season with 1,582 yards and 15 touchdowns despite injury, helping contribute to Prep’s 9-3 record.  He has thrown for 3,503 yards and 36 touchdown passes in his career to date.
