In the grand scheme of the entire Division-1 recruiting scene, kickers and punters easily receive the least publicity. Pennsylvania’s 2011 recruiting class has a few kickers to keep an eye on, and one of them comes from Erie Cathedral Prep.

Kicker Noah Ackerman has received interest, but no scholarship offers, from Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia, according to his profile on Ackerman is a 5’10, 160-pound senior-to-be who handled the placekicking and kickoff duties for the Ramblers last season.

Ackerman handled the kicking chores for 76 kickoffs last year – averaging just under 50 yards per kickoff with 13 touchbacks. The 13 touchbacks accounted for 17.1 percent of Ackerman’s kickoffs.

As a placekicker, Ackerman converted 70-of-79 extra points (.886) and 8-of-10 field goals (.800), with a long of 44 yards.

Ackerman scored 94 of the Ramblers’ 598 points – accounting for 15.7 percent of Cathedral Prep’s season scoring output.
