DuBois wins over Mifflin County

The DuBois Beavers Varsity Football team had their first test of the regular season this past Friday with a non-conference road game at Mifflin County. Senior RB Garrett Brown made an impressive mark early in the game to score the Beavers’ first touchdown. Mifflin County answered with a touchdown on a late drive in the first half. Garrett Brown scored his second touchdown of the night in a late drive near the end of the second quarter to make the score 13-17 Mifflin County. The Huskies went up 24-13 at the end of the second quarter. At the end of the first half, RB Garrett Brown had 14 rushes for 118 yards. Sophomore QB Gabe French was 9-15 for 114 yards. Senior LB Nick Bontempo left the game with concussion like symptoms.
In the second half DuBois scored in the third quarter to go up 27-24. Later in the third quarter RB Garrett Brown and Junior WR Trevor Schwiderske were ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct. Brown finished his night with 19 rushes for 177 yards and 3 touchdowns. DuBois scored again in the fourth quarter to go up with the final score of 34-24. QB Gabe French went 14-20 for 162 yards on the night. The Beavers go into week two 1-0 with a home game vs. Franklin.
