The Oil City Oilers guarded their “Oil Field” with great caution up until this week. But when the Beavers came to town, DuBois used the oil to power their massive machine of offense throughout the game.
Senior running back Garrett Brown made himself known to the Oilers early in the rain-drizzled game on Friday night. Brown put the first points on the board for the Beavers with a touchdown half way through the second quarter. Brown found the end zone again with under a minute to go in the first half.
DuBois went into half-time leading 13-0 with no points to be had for either side in the first quarter. In the first half alone Brown had 16 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Senior WR Garrett Miles had ten catches for 92 yards. Sophomore quarterback Gabe French went 17-26 for a total of 172 yards.
In the third quarter Brown scored three touchdowns. He hit the end zone the first time near the beginning of the third making the score 20-0 DuBois. Brown made it to the end zone two more times within a minute of each other near the end of the quarter. Oil City put up their first seven points with 5:35 left in the third.
The game drew to a close in the fourth quarter with an Oil City touchdown with 7:49 on the clock. DuBois ran out the clock with a touchdown pass by Sophomore quarterback Connor Stewart to running back Devin Clark for 58 yards.
