DuBois Beats Brookville Raiders 52-13 at Homecoming

Written by: on Sunday, October 14th, 2012

Forty-one degrees is not a good temperature for a homecoming celebration. All the girls in their thin, shiny gowns were freezing, but the winner did not see to mind, neither did the DAHS football team.

Neighboring Brookville came into this game as a possible threat for the Beavers. The Raiders arrived in DuBois with 5-1 record. They left with something different.

DuBois scored in the first 41 seconds with a 68 yard pass from quarterback Gabe French to Bryson Paulinellie for a touchdown to go up 7-0. Junior Josh Hnat kicked a field goal to help the Beavers to a 10-0 lead with 4:23 left in the first quarter.

Brookville put up seven points with 8:49 left in the second quarter.

Senior running back Garrett Brown found the end zone with 2:34 left on the clock for the score of 17-0 DuBois. He went to the house again with one second left before halftime to make the score 24-0 DuBois.

At halftime the 2012 DAHS Homecoming Queen was crowned. Casey Wilcox, escorted by Micah Shaffer, was crowned the 2012 Homecoming Queen. She commented to the student body, “Thank you to everyone who voted for me! I’m so happy!”

Back to business in the second half. Senior wide receiver, Dane Bright bobbed and weaved through five tackles to make the score 31-7 DuBois with 6:21 left in the third quarter. Another pass to the end zone found Bryson Paulinellie to make the score 38-7 DuBois.

The Raiders scored a touchdown with 27 seconds left in the third. They made the score 38-13 after failing to make a two-point conversion.

Brown took it to the house again to make the score 45-13 DuBois. Paulinellie made the score 52-13 with a touchdown again in the fourth quarter.

DuBois won by the final score of 52-13. This is the fourth game this season that the Beavers won with 50 or more points.

Sophomore quarterback Gabe French was 21-25 for 355 yards passing and five touchdowns. French broke 1,000 yards passing for the season in this game. Brown had 19 rushes for 88 yards and two touchdowns, one of them was a receiving touchdown. Paulinellie had six catches for 125 yards and three touchdowns.

Senior wide receiver Jarred Baummer had four catches for 87 yards. Bright had three catches for 61 yards and one touchdown.

The Beavers are undefeated with a 6-0 record. Next week, for their last away game of the season, the team travels north to Warren for yet another cold, classic football weather game vs. the 6-1 Dragons.
