District 6 Week 8

Written by: on Monday, October 13th, 2008

Key Games

District 6 Week 8

State College Little Lions (D6 4A 7-0) @ Altoona Mountain Lions (D6 4A 2-5)

This is more to keep an eye on State College and to bring up the Question, “What happened to the Altoona

Team that beat District 7 North Allegheny Week 1?”

Cedar Cliff Colts (D3 4A 4-3) @ Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers (D6 3A 6-1)

This will be the third District 6 opponent for the Colts in a row. Week 6 (38-7) lose at State College and

Week 7 (24-7) win against Altoona. The Golden Tigers are riding a 6-Game Winning Streak after a Week 1

lose (0-37) to State College. Hollidaysburg has 2 Victories this year over Washington D.C. Teams

(DCIAA) : H.D. Woodson (4A 2-4) and Wilson (4A 4-3).

Central Martinsburg Scarlett Dragons (D6 2A 7-0) @ Clearfield Bisons (D9 3A 6-1)

The Scarlett Dragons have some notable Wins : (3A 2-5 Indian Valley) (3A 3-4 Bellefonte)

(2A 4-3 Huntingdon). The Bisons have already knocked off Tyrone (35-34) in Clearfield. This should be an

Excellent Game.

Forest Hills Rangers (D6 2A 6-1) @ Bishop Carroll Huskies (D6 1A 4-3)

The Rangers got back on track this past week with a (28-20) Win over the Penn Cambria Panthers. The

Huskies will present a Challenge : they have beat the Central Cambria Red Devils who two weeks ago

Shut-Out the Rangers. Two of their losses have been to (7-0) Bishop McCort and at (3A 4-3) Johnstown.

Penn Cambria Panthers (D6 2A 4-3) @ Bishop McCort Crushers (D6 1A 7-0)

The Panthers are all over the road : Week 3 Win at Central Cambria, Week 5 Lose at Bishop Carroll.

Which Team shows up? The Crushers have kept it between the lines a little better : Week 2 (4-Point) Win

at Bishop Carroll, Week 5 (4-Point) Win at (2A 3-4) Richland Twp. The Panthers need to bring their

“A-Game” if they want to keep it close.

Penns Manor Comets (D6 1A 5-2) @ Purchase Line Red Dragons (D6 1A 7-0)

Very Big Rivalry Game. The Comets are streaking after starting (0-2) with loses at (4-3) Northern Cambria

and at (5-2) Laurel Valley. The Comets Lead Indiana County in Total Offense with 326 Yards a game. The

Red Dragons are 2

nd

in Indiana County in Total Defense allowing 204 Yards a game. The most interesting

Stat : Indiana Counties Top 2 Rushing Offenses : Penns Manor – 266 Yards a game, Purchase Line – 245

Yards a game.

Portage Mustangs (D6 1A 7-0) @ North Star Cougars (D5 2A 7-0)

The Mustangs : Averaging 51 Points-Per-Game on Offense and Allowing 7 Points-Per-Game on Defense.

North Star by virtue of moving up to play in 2A this year doesn’t yet have a 2A Schedule. They have beaten

7 (1A) Schools in a row. Their most recent Win over (4-3) Conemaugh Twp. by 3-Points, the Mustangs

beat the same Conemaugh Twp. Team by 40 Points Week 4.

Mount Union Trojans (D6 1A 6-1) @ Northern Bedford Panthers (D5 1A 5-2)

The Trojans are coming off a (28-12) Victory over District 5 (5-2) Everett. Mount Union’s only lose was

Week 1 to (2A 4-3) Huntingdon. The Panthers were Shut-Out by that same Everett Team (0-15) Week 3.
