Linebackers Thor Schmittle (33) and Adam Bowers (64) will be challenged by Claysburg’s running attack.

After last week’s thrashing of Glendale 48-6, improving their record to 1-1, the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils look to continue building momentum tonight as they travel to Claysburg to take on the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs.

C-K feel to 0-2 last week, losing to Williamsburg 46-7.

It is very important for B-A to take the bulldogs seriously.

Senior Ethan McGee said it comes down to a quick start.

“We need to come out, and smack them in the mouth from the beginning,” he said. “We’re looking for a fast start.”

The Blue Devils can’t afford to take any steps back this week as they still look to establish a more consistent running attack, although last week against Glendale was much improved from the opening game against Tyrone.

Duke Brunner ran for 72 yards and a score as Sawyer Kline added 63 yards of his own and he also found the end zone last week.

Taneyhill continued his strong play at Quarterback last week with another impressive performance which added to his season total of 430 passing yards and three touchdowns.

B-A’s defense has been solid all season only giving up a total of 22 points through two games and have forced a total of three turnovers.

Claysburg-Kimmel has struggled defensively giving up a total of 81 points in their first two contest.

However, the Bullddogs’ offense has been effective over their first two games. Junior Quarterback Ty Hagan leads the passing attack as he has thrown for 347 yards and five touchdowns. Although yet having scored a rushing touchdown as a team C-K has been solid averaging 161 yards per game on the ground.

Senior defensive tackle Austin Desch said B-A’s number one objective was stopping the running game.

“We’re going to have to stop the run and contain the outside,” he said.

Running back Duke Brunner has this week’s three keys.
