Written by: on Sunday, April 26th, 2009

WesternPAFootball.net’s Small School Player of the Year Kevin Weatherspoon is attracting the interest of additional Division-1 colleges, according to Rivals.com.

The multi-purpose athlete still only owns a single offer, that being from Pitt, but now Maryland, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt are showing interest, in addition to Penn State and West Virginia.

Weatherspoon tallied over 1,400 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns, according to Rivals.  He also intercepted seven passes on defense, and was a fixture as a returner on Clairton’s special teams’ unit.

Clairton figures to be ranked as one of the top teams in Class “A” in the upcoming 2009 football season.  The Bears enter ’09 as the defending WPIAL champions and PIAA “A” runners-up.
