Clairton ATH Tyler Boyd issues verbal declaration to PittsburghWritten by: David Mika on Saturday, January 5th, 2013
He joins fellow teammate Titus Howard and is the sixth WPIAL player to commit to Pitt.
One of the biggest reasons for Clairton’s success the last four years is the 6-foot-2, 175-pound senior. As a three year starter his team won 48 games without a loss. Clairton won its fifth consecutive WPIAL Class A championship and fourth consecutive PIAA championship.
It seem Boyd played every where on the field this season, playing at quarterback, defensive back and did punt and kick returns.
In the PIAA Class A finals, Boyd rushed for 118 yards on 20 carries and one score. He also caught three passes for 50 yards. On defense he had an interception.
This season he finished with 2,567 yards rushing on 215 carries and caught 12 passes for 218 yards. Boyd had 51 touchdowns and 326 points scored this season.
He finished his career with 5,755 yards rushing and 117 career touchdowns, which is a WPIAL record.
