Brashear athlete up to 6 D-1 offers
Written by: Josh Funk on Saturday, May 30th, 2009Brashear’s multi-purpose athlete Manasseh Garner is up to a sixth Division-1 college offer as of this week.
The Wisconsin Badgers offered him a scholarship earlier this week, Garner said in a phone interview Friday evening.Â
Other schools that have offered the 6’2, 205-pound senior-to-be include Maryland, Minnesota, Pitt, Toldeo, and Akron.
Garner helped Brashear win its second straight City League championship in a variety of ways last season. He finished the year with 1,080 all-purpose yards (720 receiving, 154 rushing, 206 passing) and 13 total touchdowns (10 receiving, 1 rushing, 2 passing). Defensively, Garner added 73 tackles, six sacks, and three interceptions.
Brashear finished the ’08 season 11-2, with losses to Wheeling Central Catholic in the regular season and to Clearfield in the PIAA playoffs. In the last two seasons, Brashear is 23-3 overall.
The Bulls seek an unprecedented third consecutive City League championship in 2009. Brashear has never won three consecutive city titles, but did win three in a four-year stretch from 1979-’82.
