For the second consecutive year, Brashear, a Pittsburgh City League school, will have a Division-1 recruit. This time, a multi-faceted athlete is drawing the attention.
Manasseh Garner, a senior-to-be for the Bulls, already has an offer from Maryland, according to Rivals.com. Other interested schools include Cincinnati, Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Pitt, West Virginia, and Buffalo.
Garner had a big season, both offensively and defensively, for Brashear, which won its second consecutive City League championship, the ninth title in school history. Garner threw for 206 yards, ran for 126, and had 720 receiving yards. He had a hand in 11 total touchdowns, scoring nine.
Defensively, Garner posted 84 tackles, five sacks, and three interceptions. As a sophomore in 2007, Garner was a defensive specialist, racking up 67 tackles and two sacks.
Garner figures to be a big part of Brashear’s run toward a third straight City League title in 2009. The Bulls, though, have never won more than two City League titles in a row.
