Blue Devils look to rebound against Glendale

B-A dropped the Backyard Brawl for a fourth straight season last week, falling to the Golden Eagles in Tyrone 15-12.

The Vikings come into the contest with an 0-1 record also, as they fell to Williamsburg last week 35-0.

B-A’s spirits are high and the Devils are looking to use the loss as motivation to avoid their second straight season with an 0-2 start. Coach John Hayes said there are several keys to bouncing back from a Week 1 loss.

Senior quarterback Jarrett Taneyhill, who impressed last week with a performance that included 249 passing yards and a touchdown, knows that his team needs to keep improving so they don’t have the same fate as last Friday.

“We are continuing to work hard and improve every day.  Although losing last week wasn’t fun it is providing this team with motivation moving forward,” said Taneyhill.

Coach Hayes understands the challenges that go along with facing a team that was blown out in their opening game and hopes his team doesn’t come into the game with the wrong mindset.

“Because of the Glendale’s outcome last week we don’t want to take them to lightly. We need to take care of our own business and improve on what we need to improve on so we can establish ourselves as a force,” Coach Hayes said.

B-A struggle all game long last week against Tyrone in containing their run game, with the Golden Eagles powering to 257 yards on the ground.

The Blue Devils also had a tough time trying to run the ball on offense as they totaled just 20 rushing yards last week. John Hayes talks about these struggles along with keys to bouncing back this week and more below.
