Team #9 Thomas Jefferson (7) 0-0
Written by: David Mika on Thursday, August 26th, 2010Thomas Jefferson finished 11-1 last season, but failed to reach the WPIAL finals for the first time since 2002. No matter. While the 2010 edition of the Jaguars may not be its strongest team in recent memory, its top three rushers from a year ago (Ryan Ruffing, Dylan Breisinger and TJ Matrascia) all return, as do lineman Chris Thearle and Dustin Vissari. Big losses for TJ are at QB and WR. Kicker Michael Wainauskis (55 PATs, 3 field goals) is a potential Division-1 prospect and a weapon in the special teams phase of the game. One has to simply admire what Bill Cherpak (163-30 record) has done with the Thomas Jefferson football program since he assumed the role of head coach in 1995.
