The Vikings bid 5,500-yard, 60-touchdown passer Paul Jones and sure-handed wide receiver Drew Carswell and the tougher-than-shoe-leather Century Conference adieu. The Vikes, coming off of consecutive eight-win seasons, dropped down to Class A and found itself in the Big Seven conference. Sto-Rox has a load of talented underclassmen, like junior LB Deaysean Rippy (77 tackles, 7 sacks) and junior WR Marzett Geter (20 rec., 382 yds., 6 TD; 60 tackles, 4 INT) return, as does RB Joshuae Beverly (795 rush yds., 176 rec. yds., 10 total TD), WR Dontez Ford (17 rec., 279 yds., 1 TD), LB Fontaine Bennett (71 tackles, 3 sacks) and DEF James Latimer (60 tackles, 2 sacks). QB Jordan Latimer started three games last season, and threw for 643 yards and six scores and didn’t throw a pick. Head coach Ron Butschle led Sto-Rox to the 2003 WPIAL title game, where the Vikes fell to Springdale, 30-13.
