Here is my order of teams that will beat teams below them in WPIAL A
    1 North Catholic
    2 Sto-Rox
    3 Neshannock
    4 Monessen
    5 Avonworth
    6 Fort Cherry
    7 Clairton
    8 Apollo-ridge
    9 Beth-Center
    10 Laurel
We will see how this plays out.
Final four Sto-Rox, Neshannock, North Catholic, Monessen

  2. Jay says:

I know that rankings are arbitrary but I really think PCC and Upper St Clair should be above Gateway… But a WPIAL championship with any combination of the three would be fantastic.

Just for fun, and hopefully to stir up some debate… Here are some slightly-past-mid-season predictions that I’d like to throw out there:

    WPIAL Champions:

    AAAA – PCC
    AAA – New Castle
    AA – Aliquippa
    A – Sto-Rox

    Hershey:

AAAA – PCC def. St. Joseph’s Prep
AAA – Archbishop Wood def. Erie Cathedral
    AA – Imhotep def. Aliquippa
    A – Southern Columbia def. Sto-Rox

@billy splain: I would love to contribute to the site if I could, but I live in eastern PA, so I suppose it would make more sense for me to contribute to/write for the EPA site. However, despite not being a “westerner”, I find myself equally as interested in western PA football. WPA.net and EPA.com are by far the best sources for PA HSFB out there, which is why I find it so unfortunate that there are so few comments on this blog.

But hey, if you can think of any way for me to help out, I’d be more than happy to do so.

6 weeks in. Thoughts on the season so far on this side of the state?

Erie Prep looks to still be dominate. I look for a rematch with McDevitt.

The WPIAL AAAA seems to be open this year with PCC, Gateway, NA,and others vying for the title.

  5. billy splain says:

@jay: Unfortunately we don’t have many in the wpial following the site. Recruit for us! heck, you can even write for us! We’d also love to hear what people in the western part of the state are saying

  6. Party's Over says:

August 5th, 9:26 am! Uh oh, looks like that comment is coming back with some sharp teeth! Good luck with Fort Cherry this week. Try not to get MERCY RULED!!

  7. Jay says:

Wow! Clairton loses their first game in what, 4 years? I’m surprised that isn’t the top story on the site.

It’s too bad users don’t join the conversation here like they do on the Eastern PA site… I’d love to hear what people out west are talking and arguing about.

  8. Bubba15009 says:

North Catholic in A looks very strong. Aliquippa in AA. AAA should be interesting. Central Catholic should be a contender in AAAA.

  9. WASHINGTON says:

Watch out for Sha McKenzie and the Little Prexies, looks like they’ll have a more balanced attack this year.

  10. Clairton says:

I am hearing a lot of talk from the people in Stowe Township and McKees Rocks about the Vikings being the new WPIAL Class A Champs in 2013…what have you guys done except beat a bunch of sub-par Class A teams the last few years? I could see you guys talking if your games at Heinz Field were close with Clairton, but you guys have been MERCY RULED two years in a row…not to mention Clairton wasn’t the only team you guys lost to last year. Please, give me a break, shut up and play football and if you are fortunate enough to make it to Heinz Field try not to get mercy ruled.

  11. Goaline Academy says:

The transferred sophomore mataeo garner looks to attend a great season his junior year with the jeannette jayhawks this coming 2013 football season. Mataeo Garner is a great athlete, also little cousin of Jeannette’s former running back Jordan hall.
