2011 Mr. PA Football winners

(Harrisburg, Pa.)   Wayde D. Marsico, President/CEO of Sportsrecruiters.com, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 Mr. Pennsylvania Football Awards.

Tyler Boyd, a junior at Clairton High School is the winner of the class A, AA award.

Rushel Shell, a senior at Hopewell High School (Aliquippa) and Noah Spence, a senior at Bishop McDevitt High School (Harrisburg) were the co-winners of the class AAA, AAAA award.

The winners were selected by high school coaches, sports media, and football fans from across the state. They were chosen from a total of 86 nominees and then the players were pared down to the final five in each division.

Shell broke the record for most rushing yards in Pennsylvania state history, finishing with 9,078 yards.  He finished with 100+ yards rushing for the 39th consecutive time, breaking the national record held by former Oklahoma star Billy Sims, He rushed for 200 yards or more in 25 games during his career.  2010 Mr. PA Football, Three-time 1st team all-state RB, two-time Post-Gazette’s player of the year, Class AAA Player of the Year by the PA Sports Writers’, PA Football News Class AAA Offensive Player of the year, three-time Fabulous 22 Football all-stars, 2011 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s player of the year,  2010 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s preseason player of the year,  Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl Participant, Big 33, 2011 USA Today High School American 1st team RB,  He was ranked as the 11th best overall prospect (and 3rd best Running Back) in the class of 2012 by MaxPreps, 20th overall (#4 RB) by Scout.com, 24th overall (#3 RB) by ESPN.com and 45th overall (#5 RB) by Rivals.com,  and rated a five star recruit by scout and max preps.

The awards were presented at the Harrisburg Hilton on Saturday night at an awards banquet.
