District 10 Talk Week 4

Written by: David Mika on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Linesville QB one of the driving forces behind 4-0 start

Trevor Litwiler, senior quarterback for the Linesville Lions, a Class “A” team in District 10, has helped propel the orange and black to a 4-0 start. He’s really done the bulk of the damage offensively and in terms of scoring.

As a team, Linesville has tallied 1,565 yards of offense (391.3 yards per game) through the first four weeks of the season.

Litwiler has over 1,000 of those yards by himself, 1,050 yards, to be exact. That works out to 67 percent of Linesville’s offensive output. Litwiler’s run for 602 yards and thrown for another 448, accounting for 14 total touchdowns (10 rushing, 4 passing).

He also serves as the team placekicker, and has converted 20 extra points. He has scored 80 of the Lions’ 152 points this season – 52.63 percent of the season total. Litwiler averages an impressive 20 points per game.

Linesville faces by far its toughest test of the 2009 season Friday night when it takes on the undefeated Farrell Steelers.

Erie Cathedral Prep – Burning out scoreboard lightbulbs

This is just an impressive overall stat – since McDowell held the Ramblers to seven points in Week 1, Cathedral Prep has scored 169 points in the last three weeks, culminating that run with a 46-0 pasting of rival Erie Strong Vincent.

Prep has averaged 56.3 points per game the last three weeks, and is averaging 44 points per game this ’09 season.

General McLane – Lancers win without completing a pass

It’s probably not surprising that General McLane would win a football game without completing a pass, as the Lancer’s triple-option/flexbone attack doesn’t really rely on the passing game. But it is remarkable to note, nonetheless.

In a 35-7 victory against Harbor Creek last weekend, the Lancers attempted only one pass, an incompletion, while running for over 400 yards.

Eleven different Lancer backs registered a carry in the game – only one – Cody Lee, surpassed 100 yards rushing on the night.
