Wide Receivers – Class of 2011-2012

Who are some of the top wide receivers going into the 2011 season? Here’s our list of the top three wide receivers in Western PA. Who do you think makes the top five list?

1. Anthony Nixon, Pittsburgh Central Catholic

The featured target for the Vikings last season, Nixon caught 34 passes for 699 yards and three touchdowns. He is receiving interest from numerous Division-1 colleges

2. Zach Challingsworth, South Fayette

He will only be a junior in 2011, but was one of the WPIAL’s top pass catchers in 2010, hauling in 41 passes for 867 yards and 13 touchdowns.  He averaged 21.2 yards per catch  and was one of three Lion receivers with 10+ receiving touchdowns last year.

3. Darren Massey, Montour

Massey had a solid junior season for the 12-1 Montour Spartans, catching 44 passes for 726 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 16.5 yards per catch.

3. Devin Wilson, Montour

Wilson was Montour’s leading receiver in 2010, hauling in a team-best 55 passes for 757 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 13.8 yards per catch.

    he went to nationals for track hes a very fast kid, great hands getting looks from connecticut and one D1 schools

    Very fast number 1. wide receiver as a junior and went to nationals for track.

    Trenton Coles, Clairton. The 100 and 200 meter state champion…this kid is tall, this kid is quick, has great hands, played in 3 consecutive state championship games and has MULTIPLE offers from D-1 Schools. This kid is better than Jon Baldwin…Clairton will be headed back to Hershey largely in part because of this kid.

    Mark Davis, Warren Area High School

    Mark is a tall speedy reciever at 6’5”. Only a junior he has the height to be a nightmare in the redzone and the speed and the hands to have a break out season in 2011.
