The Game: Peabody (8 AA) @ Brashear (8 AAA)
Date: Saturday, October 11, 2008, from Cupples Stadium in downtown Pittsburgh
2008 Record: Peabody (1-4), Brashear (6-0)
About Peabody: The Highlanders’ lone victory came against the City League’s lone “AAAA” team, Taylor Allderdice, in the form of a 12-0 shutout.
Peabody opened its season with two losses to Carrick and Langley by a combined seven points. In those two losses, Peabody averaged 31 points per game.
The Highlanders are coming off a 28-8 loss to Schenley last week.
About Brashear: Brashear lost a talented trio in Jermaine Robinson, Ed Tinker, and Quamane Bryant to graduation, but the Bulls replaced those three athletes with three more – all juniors.
Henri Chapman directs the Brashear offense, Bruce Patterson is the team’s leading rusher, and Manasseh Garner is a burner of a wideout. All three are off to fantastic starts for the Bulls, who haven’t lost a City League game since the 2006 City Championship game to Oliver.
Chapman has completed 57-of-101 passes for 901 yards and 11 touchdowns; Patterson has run for 659 yards and eight touchdowns on 91 carries; Garner is Chapman’s favorite target, snaring 31 passes for 436 yards and five touchdowns.
Brashear is averaging 38.1 points per game, and, defensively, have held four opponents to six points or less.
