2009 Big School Coach of the Year
Written by: Dave on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010COY: Al Wolski, State College Area – When you’re the first team to ever do something, it certainly warrants consideration. When you do multiple things for the first time in the same season, it puts you over the top. Wolski guided State College to its second straight District 6/8/9/10 “AAAA” subregional championship in as many years. Ho-hum. But the Little Lions’ playoff run didn’t stop there. The Little Lions upset Woodland Hills for the school’s first PIAA playoff victory against the WPIAL, then crushed Cumberland Valley to win District 6’s first big-school PIAA semi-final. District 6 had previously been 0-8 at that juncture and outscored 274-76. State College finished 2009 with its third 12-win season in the last four years, and its second in a row.

the AA an A teams in this state need to get more attention because they are very capable of doig what the AAA and AAAA schools do take mercyhurst prep for example the lakers went 10-0 in the regular season last season before losing in the first round of the playoffs but you dont hear about that all you hear about is these big schools hiring new coaches thats not right!
