District 6 Talk Week 4

Written by: on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Huge cross-class showdown in the LHAC Friday night

Undefeated Bishop McCort, three-time defending District 6 champions (2 AA, 1 A), square off with Richland, a school from the southeastern suburbs of Johnstown, Friday night. It should prove to be quite the interesting matchup.

McCort likes to run, run, run, but can pass if it has to. Richland is much more balanced offensively between running and passing.

McCort scores an average of 25 of its over-38 points per game in the first half. Richland, which averages just under 30 points per game, averages no more than 8.5 points per any one quarter.

The Crushers defeated the Rams last season, 38-34.

Huntingdon ended Saint Marys undefeated season, but had hardly any offense to show for it

Sometimes, teams will take a victory however they can get it. For the Huntingdon Area Bearcats, their win Friday night against previously undefeated Saint Marys was about as ugly and defensive as it could be.

The Huntingdon Daily News reported that the Bearcats finished with just 107 total yards in the game, a 17-6 victory. Huntingdon had 57 yards rushing and 50 yards passing. The Bearcats’ leading rusher, Houston Riley, finished the game with just 19 yards.

Saint Marys’ senior fullback Kevin Hoy nearly outgained the entire Huntingdon Area team by himself. Hoy ran for 106 yards in the game, according to The Daily News.
