The Game: Bishop Carroll (6 A) @ Greater Johnstown (6 AAA)
Date: Saturday, Oct. 4, from Greater Johnstown HS in downtown Johnstown
2008 Record: Bishop Carroll (3-2), Greater Johnstown (3-2)
About Bishop Carroll: Not much has been heard from Bishop Carroll since it won the 2005 District 6 “A” championship. The four-time PIAA semifinalists and six-time District 6 champion Huskies went through a slight downspin, but appear to be headed in the right direction, starting off the 2008 season with a 3-2 overall record.
The Huskies are led by junior running back Brendan Julock’s 717 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Julock has run for 2,238 career yards. Matt Repko (177 rush yards) and Christian Woo (137 rush yards) are also factors for Carroll, and Josh Chumrik has only registered four carries, but has scored four touchdowns.
Matt Repko is also the Huskies’ leading receiver, with seven catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. Repko is also a defensive force, with 32 tackles and six sacks.
Derek Semetosky has 24 tackles and a team-best nine sacks, and Chumrik has a team-high 52 tackles to go along with three sacks.
About Greater Johnstown: The Trojans have used a running-back-by-committee system in replacing career 4,000-yard rusher Antwuan Reed. Quadir Christian, Quatrell Rose, and Kashmir Pretlor all contribute to the Johnstown ground game.
Jordan Jefferson and Richard Agurs are the favorite targets for quarterback John Siciliano.
Johnstown is coming off of a 43-12 victory over Somerset last week. The Trojans are averaging 23 points per game and allowing 14 points per contest.
