This according to Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette – longtime WPIAL football coach Guy Montecalvo retired after serving as head coach at Washington and Canon-McMillan high schools for a combined 30 years.  White reported Montecalvo spent 23 years at Washington and the last seven years at Canon-Mac, posting a career record of 225-107-2.

Montecalvo won WPIAL “AA” championships at Washington in 1993 and 2001, including the 2001 “AA” state championship, 19-12, over District 11 champion Pen Argyl.  The ’01 Prexie team set (and still owns) the Washington County record for points scored in a single season, with 612, the seventh-highest single season scoring output in WPIAL history.

The Prexies reached the WPIAL “AA” championship game in 1990, 1995, 1998 and 1999 under Montecalvo’s lead.
